Equity and Social Justice

As people throughout the world continue to come together seeking an end to racial inequality, the importance of equity and social justice in our school community has never been more relevant.

We are keenly aware of our responsibility to create an inclusive school culture, where each individual is welcomed, valued, heard, and empowered. We vigorously embrace and reaffirm our commitment to honor the dignity and humanity of each member of our school community, every day. Racism and injustice are not to be tolerated and have no place at Imagine.

As public charter school educators, we have both an opportunity and a responsibility to challenge systemic injustices—by encouraging our students and staff to develop the critical thinking, collaborative, and self-reflection skills needed to foster a better society. We believe in the importance of seeking to understand and value our commonalities and our differences. We support these beliefs throughout our school by encouraging diverse points of view and promoting critical thinking and awareness around bias, identity, and multiple perspectives.

We take meaningful action daily through restorative classroom practices that seek to develop community and manage conflict constructively by repairing and strengthening relationships. We are continuously working to further integrate and strengthen our character education focus—to support social and emotional learning and more purposefully address social justice considerations. By fostering empathy, making authentic connections, and creating safe environments for constructive expression, we seek to build a school culture where all students and staff feel they are seen, heard, and supported.

We do not have all the answers, but we are committed to listening, learning, and modeling inclusion, unity, and respect for all human beings. At Imagine Schools, we are strong in our resolve to hold each other accountable every day through our foundational Shared Values of Justice, Integrity, and Fun so that we can all achieve important change together.
