March 13th, 2020
With the health and safety of our students and staff as our first priority, we continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation locally and across our country. As previously communicated, we have been continuously reinforcing important preventive measures, such as frequent hand washing and respiratory etiquette, and working daily to thoroughly clean our school building and disinfect frequently touched surfaces in the building and on busses. Given the recent detection of COVID-19 cases in Ohio, including a confirmed community spread case in another part of the state, we wanted to share additional measures that Imagine Great Western Academy is taking for the safety of our students and staff and to help prevent the spread of the virus in our community.
Effective immediately and through the end of March, we will be following recent guidance from government officials to limit large gatherings of people by doing the following:
·All school-related and community events in our building are canceled through the end of March. This includes concerts, assemblies, school dances, competitions, PTA meetings/events, school family nights, and any other non-essential events that include outside spectators.
·All field trips, professional travel, and conferences are canceled through the end of March.
·The use of our school buildings by outside organizations and entities will also be restricted through the end of March.
·The Awards Assembly will still take place during school hours on March 20th, however the event will not be open for parents/families to attend. Any student receiving an award will have their picture taken and these will be provided if requested.
·After School Tutoring will continue as scheduled until Spring Break.
While there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our county or school at this time and some of these measures may seem inconvenient, we feel they are important to help slow the spread of the virus and keep students and staff safe. We will continue to monitor this situation closely and make adjustments as necessary based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Ohio Department of Health, and Local Public Health officials.
Please continue to exercise proper hand washing with soap and other universal preventive actions such as covering your cough, sneezing into your elbow or tissue (throw away tissue), avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth, and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces. As always, students who do not feel well should stay home.
We appreciate the collaboration as a community to protect our students, families, and staff.
We will re-evaluate at the end of March to see if any of these measures need to be extended.
